Catalina Music - Playlist Search Functionality Missing, Genius Bug, iTunes Store

@anibinani maybe you're looking for the "filter field" which when you're inside a playlist and have a song selected can be accessed by CMD+OPTION+F

Zerointerior this is why I reverted my iMac and my MacBook back to Mojave. I highly recommend that anyone who is on the fence about updating their OS, and who needs their music functional, to wait to update until they work around this mistake. There’s no way that this could be it...right?

if you have a back up in time machine from before you upgraded to Catalina - then make sure you have everything in the cloud - then restart in safe mode with “command R” - then get into disk utility and erase the HD-data Drive (you might want to call Apple to make sure you do it properly) then you can restore Mojave from your backup pre-Catalina.

Yes you can revert back easily. If you want to call Apple you can have them walk you through the erase. You back up then erase and then install Mojave and then update it to the latest version.

Mojave is not as pretty - but lord I can’t use it so what good are the good looks...? 🙄

I finally found search within playlists. You need to activate "filter" for each playlist. "Content" menu (shift command f).

That’s why I downgraded back to Mojave

RESTORE THE AUTO SEARCH BAR WITHIN PLAYLIST PLEASE!!!!!

There needs to be an option to "SEARCH" the library WITHIN each playlist...not just "filter" the songs within the playlist.

@Zerointerior You can delete a song in a playlist from your library by pressing OPTION+DELETE

There is zero reason to have to leave a playlist to "search" for a song in order to have to add it to a playlist.

This is a big FAIL and needs to be remedied!!!

Yep for people that have they're own huge library music this is a big slap in the face, the search on the left side is terrible, i just want to search songs in the "songs" list, i don't need to see the album artwork all the time, i just like the old school list of every single song i have and i want to easily search it, i should be forced to use shift-command-f every time, completely first world problem but such a terrible design decision.. how can i go back to the last OS?!?!?! hahaha.

ontop of that, my recently added folder of new MP3s doesn't live update and if i close the music open and reopen i have "edit rules" to get it back to normal of most recently added being at the top of the playlist!!! this app is broken!! FIX IT NOWWW for the love of all that is holy!!!!!

another things i'd love for the music app to do after all these years is to have the ability to delete a song from your library from inside a playlist, i spend 99% of my time in my recently added playlist and it'd be amazing if i could just delete tracks i don't want from inside the playlist instead of going to songs and hunting it down, even longer process with this shift-command-f crap.

I reverted back to Mojave and I am going to stay there with my MacBook AND my iMac until they fix this issue. The missing search bar in playlists is unacceptable for those of us who use music for work.

Shouldn’t have to use a command I just want the search bar permanently up there, even if you use command as soon as you switch to a playlist and back you have to enter it again, almost my recently added doesn’t live update it’s just terrible! And my keyboard skip songs pause doesn’t work, how is there that many mistakes made

I just updated to Catalina and I am disgusted that the only Search bar searches iTunes store. I own my library resident on my iMac. I want to search my songs NOT THE STORE and I want to be able to manage my playlists. This feature is missing. Please bring it back.
