My company-sponsored iPad is running 3.2.1. I can connect to a cisco wireless network. But I cannot connect to a Netgear wireless network using either WEP or WPA2-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 with Pre-Shared Key). I cannot believe that a 'state of the art' piece of hardware would run a fracking operating system that can't use the most basic of wireless protocols nor the more secure form of wireless.

The iPad supports WPA2, in fact I am using it as I post this response on a Netgear router.

Do you have a question or a problem you want help with?

I too am using a netgear router with wpa2-psk. In fact i have two. They are linked by LAN cable but provide wifi coverage for top and bottom of my house. My iPod touchs, iphone and laptops all connect wirelessly without a problem (not all at the same time but as and when needed). My iPad also connected initially but since then keeps having problems. Specifically, it shows i am connected to the netwok (3 bars) but then fails to communicate (safari saying server not responding, app store not accessible). I either have to turn wifi off and on again to cure this or in extremes reboot the iPad. I have tried static ip and dhcp. I have turned brightness up. I have reset network settings. I am on 3.2.1 os (as shipped - iPad is brand new).

This is killing my love affair with this device!!! All help/suggestions welcomed. Thanks

PS it took 3 reconnects for me to get this message posted successfully as often the wifi only works for a few seconds before cutting out

At home, I can connect to wifi most of the time. Occasionally will stall and I have to move to different website or run another app, then am connected again. Just now ran FCC speed test and got: 17.3 mbps down 3.6 Mbps up.

When I go to Borders Book store, the iPad will get stuck in a reconnect loop until I get tired of it and turn on my 3G and turn off wifi. I don't know if this is an iPad issue or a Borders router issue. Ultimately, I bit the bullet and signed up for monthly 3G so I'll always (most places anyway) have a connection!

I had a long tussle to get my iPad logged into the Netgear modem I use at home, but solved it by using the MAC address setting within the Netgear. Finding the MAC address for the iPad was fun at first as well. Since then I have not had the least problem, both before and after the update. I think its a Netgear thing and not Apple, but don't care now its working.
Good luck

Thanks jano. I set up a Dhcp reservation and no major change. However in my testing I have found the problem only seems to happen on the second (older) of the two wifi networks. I will buy a new one (to match other netgear) and see if this fixes it. As i said in my first post, none of my other apple devices (1st gen, 2nd gen and iPhone 3GS) have a problem.
