Hi, all my USB drives and external hard drive are not being recognized after updating to MacOS Catalina. They cannot be mounted as well using Disk Utilities. I'm using MacBook Pro 2015. Please help to address this issue asap. Thanks.
I just lost my 2nd external hard drive since upgrading. I'm on a 2014 Macbook Pro. Lost a brand new Seagate 5 TB, now just lost a 4 TB I've used for years. They initially worked in Catalina, but now only appear in Disk Utility but refuse to mount.
I too am having this issue. I can't belive this is not something apple have resolved. It's such an obvious screw up.

Same issue. Won't recognize my OWS Raids. Going to downgrade to Mojave. Very ******. Apple fix this!
Based on the recommendation of someone on this thread I re-booted again and it worked! Thanks for the help.

I downloaded/updated the Paragon NTFS for MAC app/driver and I'm back in business with my external Seagate drive. https://kb.paragon-software.com/article/4456

Edit: I could bypass this issue using a USB 3.1 A hub and believe Catalina is not dealing correctly with the USB-C interface.
A SMC does not resolve such issues. I have done it and Catalina is still dysfunctional!!
actually now the usb is only halfway in. don't wanna touch it as i am transferring my files so i can reinstall Mojave. enough of Catalina
My laptop came with Catalina already installed in Dec 2019. I had no choice, am I able to revert to another software programme too? Thank you
