Resting Energy

Hi there,

I've just switched from a FitBit Charge 3 to an Apple Watch S5 and I am trying to figure out what the „resting energy“ is. With my fitbit I know that if I'm sitting idle it calcualtes the amount of kcal burned during that time based on my stats and heartrate, because I'll burn more than my BMR/minute. Does the Apple Watch calculate it in a similar way? It appears to be like it because my hourly resting energy ist higher compared to the hours where I did not wear the watch. Is there anybody who knows more?

Best regards

Malte
