Apple Watch Resting Heart Rate

Hi,

I’m trying to accurately measure my resting heart rate with my Apple Watch.

The issue I have is, is that it measures my sleeping heart rate to use towards my resting heart rate. Now I know that’s not correct, as you’re not supposed to be asleep, but wake and resting.

When I had a Fitbit charge 2, I didn’t have any of this issue, it gave me an accurate measurement and no messing about.

So I’ve learned that you can set your sleep mode, and then it doesn’t measure my sleeping HR, but I certainly don’t sleep and wake at the exact same time everyday, and I really don’t have the time to be messing around with my watch each morning and night changing times. Last night I tried turning sleep mode on by pressing the bed icon, but it still measured my sleep HR towards my RHR.

any tips for me, as I’d really like an accurate RHR

My two pics I’ve included show my HR and Resting HR from today, the second pic shows that even though I turned sleep mode on manually, it still uses my sleep rate to measure my resting heart rate.

hope this makes sense .

thanks

Sarah
