Ever since the new Catalina update on my mac, any time I reply to a text message using the banner the notification bubble in my dock does not go away. The only way to get rid of the bubble is to open imessage. I never had this problem before the update. Is this just a glitch? Is there a way to change this?

If you haven't done so already, lets restart your Mac and check if the same behavior continues. Use the steps for restarting here: How to turn your Mac on or off
I would also recommend testing if this behavior continues in Safe Mode as well. You can find the steps for that here: Use Safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac
If this behavior doesn't happen in safe mode, restart your Mac and login as normal. Then, let us know if the behavior returns.

I appreciate you taking the time to work through those steps. When your Mac was in safe mode, did the issue persist there, or did it only come back after restarting and logging in as normal? Is this happening with every contact and Message, or only some? Are you able to test if this behavior occurs in another user account as well?

I attempted the safe mode trick and it did not work. I have tried turning it on and back off notifications, restarting my laptop, and nothing is working.
Yes it still persisted in safe mode. All of my text have this problem. I am the only user on my laptop.
