Spotlight very slow under Catalina and Server app

Searcing simple thing like 2+2 and CPU goes to 100% for several seconds...

Yes I have exactly this issue – specifically the slow return of calculations! Totally maddening. But I'm glad it's not just me – I feel like I've found my people. Apple please fix!!!

Got the new MacBook Pro 16 so I can't downgrade to Mojave.

Spotlight is slow even for basic calculation. Crazy

Thanks so much - toggling that particular setting didn't help - but I tried turning everything on and now it works MUCH better. Very bizarre, but finally spotlight is working for me again!

I got this problem in my macbook pro, But it works on my iMac,

This morning I tried to configure my macbook pro soptlight by using similar config to my iMac.

Voila..

it works!

I just enabled this checklist:

When it is disabled, my spotligh does not work as expected.

So, I enable it now.. IT WORKS

I followed the suggested steps... but I still have the same problem.

Before Catilina I always was able to fix Spotlight problems with rebuilding or excluding folders in the Privacy tab
