Importing my own videos to Mac Podcast app on Catalina

Is there any way to import my own videos as podcasts into the podcast app on Catalina? I save all my lectures from university to my computer and used to have them as podcasts in iTunes. but now that podcasts are in their own app, I can't figure out how to import them to the podcast library. all the lecture videos that I imported that were in iTunes before upgrading still show up in the app and play fine, but I just can't import any from now on. is there a work around for this? I've resorted to using the downcast app, but I like the ease and interface of the Mac podcast app, and the ability to transfer the videos to my iPad for studying on the go.
