Numbers cell margins

In Numbers, can you set the cell margins to be even smaller? So as to squeeze the letters or numbers closer to the edge of the cell, like .25 point or .15 point. Then more columns or rows can fit onto one page, for books, like the 6x9 and 5x8 page sizes I work with for books.

Cells stop being centered once they get tight vertically and header will not allow option + enter to go a line down Hello, I'm looking to get rid of the dead space above my text. I have centered the text both vertically and horizontally but it always stops centering toward the top when I shrink the cells vertically. Trying to optimize the amount of cells but if I go any tighter it cuts off the text like in this view. Is there somewhere that I can set a value to get rid of this extra space above the text? 2. The header of a document doesn't allow for you to go a line down inside itself. Is there a way to do like in the regular cells (option + enter). Otherwise I have to just put in a bunch of spaces manually to allow for this, seems somewhat wasteful.

Cannot adjust column size in numbers I have header columns that were made by merging columns. So the columns underneath do not show up on top. I can adjust the column size when I click on the line between the columns, According to the instructions, I click on the cell, but there is no arrow for the column. <rant>I know this is not the "E*" program from the "M" corporation, but the commands, screen layout, vocabulary and even model of operation are different than other applications from our Blessed Core Mother. I'm sure there are copyright issues, but Apple won that one against HP years ago. Basic functions such as how to edit a cell have to be learned all over and are not intuitive. </rant over> After a prozac and meditation just how do I (automatically) adjust a column where the border does not go to the top, and (less likely) can I do it for all columns at once? *The spreadsheet that dare not be named.

Try the Cell Text Formatter.

Choose the "Layout" segment and adjust the Text Inset. I do not know if that is exactly what you need or not
