No Driver Selected/Plug-ins disabled/Only External MIDI available in Logic Pro X

Hi everyone,

I am coming across issues in Logic Pro X 10.2.0 that I have been using for the past 4 years without any prior problems. Running it on Macbook Pro (Mid 2014) with macOS Sierra 10.12.6

I use a UAD Apollo Twin as an interface.

Issues:

  1. Opening New Project, only External MIDI is available, the others are greyed out
  2. Opening previous project, all plug-ins (stock as well as 3rd party) are disabled. I cannot add any other plug-ins nor open them up.
  3. No output signal when playing the project.
  4. Plug-In Manager is greyed out
  5. In Audio preferences, the Output Device and Input Device are greyed out. Checking and unchecking "Enable Core Audio" and hitting "Apply Changes" only makes the following sign pop up: "No Drivers Selected"

Attempted (and no success):

  1. Moving the plug-in files from "components" to "desktop"
  2. Running First Aid on Utility Disk
  3. Removing com.apple.logic10.plist from "Preferences"

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you for your replies. Luckily I found the solution to my problem. I hit "Initialize All Except Key Commands" (I think it is listed as "Reset All Preferences Except Key Commands" in other versions of Logic) and it allowed me to select the driver (system settings or interface) and enable the core audio. I'm not sure why that worked but it did the trick. Hope this helps for anyone else with this issue!

Logic can't do anything without an audio interface selected in it's preferences.

Second graphic down from the top, Core Audio Enabled - Input Device:No Driver - Output device:NoDriver

Disable core Audio then re-enable. Try clicking the selection arrows on the right of the Input Device driver selection box, anything available to select? If not, your audio interface has lost connection with the computer, unplug the audio interface, shut the computer down, restart after 15seconds, wait until the computers settles then re-plug the interface and see if Logic responds. All the symptoms are from not having an audio device selected.

Delete user preferences

Before deleting user preferences, note any specific preference settings that you’ve made, and save any custom key commands you've created. Deleting preferences removes any custom preference settings and custom key commands.

To delete the user preferences, do the following:

  1. Quit Logic Pro X.
  2. In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder.
  3. Enter ~/Library/Preferences, then click Go.
  4. Remove the "com.apple.logic10.plist" file from the Preferences folder.
  5. If you upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, also remove the "com.apple.logic.pro" file.
  6. Restart your Mac.

After deleting preferences, restart the computer.

There is also a Logic menu item in the upper Left Logic Pro X menu that allows resetting preferences to default, under the Logic Pro X/Preferences/ menu item.
