The keyboard is integrated into the Top Case Assembly which also includes the Trackpad, and Battery, among a few other small items.
Make sure to have a good verified working backup before taking the laptop in for the repair. Note: You should ALWAYS have good verified working backups. SSDs can fail without any warning, a hardware or software issue could keep the system from booting or even keep you from being able to access the data on the SSD. Or you might just accidentally make an unexpected change to a document or even completely delete it.
Apple assumes the user is always backing up their computer so Apple will not ask permission to erase or even replace the computers internal drive if Apple or the technician deems it necessary for troubleshooting or for the repair. Apple will not back up your computer for you during the repair.
Since you have the non-touchbar model, there is a possibility Apple may need to update the SSD's firmware which will require erasing the SSD or maybe even require replacing it if the SSD qualifies for the free Apple SSD repair program.
