Rebuild early 2011 13" MacBook Pro?

Is it worth the money to rebuild my early 2011 13" MacBook Pro? Its running extremely slow. I know nothing abut rebuilding but was told if I change hard drive and add ram from 4Gb to 8/16gb it would be like new again. Oh and a new battery.

Would this be worth it and significantly cheaper?

You have an 8 year old machine and upgrading it is something of a risk but the SSD will remain useful even if the computer dies in a short while (assuming the drive doesn't die with the computer. It happens but not typically.) The RAM is a bit more of a risk but you may find you don't need to upgrade the RAM. Since upgrading the RAM and installing an SSD are both simple tasks on this computer, you may be better off doing the SSD upgrade first and see if you need the extra RAM. Nice, yes, but I was amazed back in 2012 how big a difference an SSD made to my 4GB 2010 MBP.

If you decide to jump (and I certainly was glad I did) I recommend Crucial Tech or OWC (macsales.com) drives. Samsung SSDs are a bit dicey with older MBP models. I also recommend that you purchase an SATA ribbon when you get the drive. These ribbons are a weak point on the older MBP models and I always replace the ribbon when I do the upgrade.

You can Try Change Your HDD to SSD fastest speed ( SSD Harddrive have several Speed ) choose the fastest one

it is will help Double the Speed from your old Macbook

Adding extra Ram only make 10% Speed change

but for signifant change you can change to 2015 macbook or newer cause already uses New Generation of SSD Harrdive ..

so the speed is like an Highway ...........

If you go SSD, remember that your MBP, like the 2012 models, supports up to a 6GBps drive so don't buy a 3GBps SSD or you will leave a lot of performance on the table. I upgraded my 2012 13-inch with this "kit" from OWC:

The kit proved invaluable because of the included USB3 external enclosure that made cloning the entire mechanical HD to the SSD.
