Ever since updating to the latest OS and iOS (Catalina & iOS 13.2), email does not sync between iPhone and MacBook Pro.

Ok - here's what I finally did. It fixed it for me.

On your phone or iPad go to settings: Password & Accounts

then under accounts, click on the email in question, then Advanced

In this pane, make sure mailbox behaviours are correct ( drafts to drafts, deleted mailbox to trash, etc). Also make sure that under the second pane down under "Move discard messages to:" that the deleted mailbox is checked.

I think I did this on both my iPhone and iPad and things are working smoothly again. Hope this works for you.

Email does not synchronise between devices.

Email is accessed by devices from a central location. IMAP (and similar) emails are stored on your email service provider's server. POP3 emails might be, but are often not

Your route to solve your question is to add email accounts correctly to each device you wish to have access to them. Emails then appear on each device independently, not synchronised. They look the same, sometimes with a slight delay caused by the period each device takes to refresh from the central email server.

  1. I'm using the Public Beta 13.2 (17B5084a)
  2. Multiple email accounts; IMAP accounts
  3. Email that has been deleted from MacBook Pro running macOS Catalina, Version 10.15 is still visible on iPhone Xs cannot be deleted from the iPhone; oddly enough the emails that cannot be deleted are only the emails received and deleted between the dates of 10/08/19-10/11/19. All email past 10/11/19 has been successfully deleted from the device.

Hello WAPitt,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that email is not syncing between your iPhone and MacBook Pro after a recent iOS update. I would like to collect a few more details about what's happening, to help better point you towards a resolution. Here are some questions that would be helpful to answer:

  1. What is the current iOS version on your iPhone from Settings > General > About? Are you running beta software?
  2. Is the issue occurring with a specific email account or multiple email accounts? Is this a POP or IMAP account?
  3. What specifically isn't syncing between the devices? Sent mail, your incoming emails don't appear on both devices, performing an action on one device (like moving an email to a folder) isn't shown on the other device?

Cheers!
