Clip Editing Workflow

Hi

I am a self-taught user of FCP. This is probably an embarrassingly basic question :) I am editing my wedding video. I imported 4 long, unedited raw video clips. I have been turning them into usable clips by pulling the large file into my timeline, cutting it into clips and renaming them. Once they are there, however, they are unwieldy in the timeline.

Is there a way to store the unedited clips somewhere other than the timeline (I've already used "lift out of timeline" but still unwieldy?

What is the best practice workflow for dealing with this kind of situation?

Thanks!

The media organization phase is very important and can make the actual editing much easier or much harder.

FCP X excels at this.

Before you start: how familiar are you with the words: project, favorite, keyword, rejected, collection? All clear?

If this is unfamiliar, then I humbly suggest you take some time to follow izzyvideo’s free course. I assure that the few hours you spend on this will pay off generously in saved time and grief pretty quickly.

Let us know. Here’s to a great video of that wonderful day.
