I updated my phone and went to text my grandson and 4 phone #’s came up when I typed in his name. Checked his contact information and only 1 number listed for him. Sent someone else a message that is not in a group and that I text all the time and it showed delivered, but they didn’t receive. Found out when I called them. Later I was using my Mac and looked at the message it went to the contact’s email. Showed iMessage @ email address. What’s going on?

Check your contacts to ensure that you are selecting a phone number to send them to. Also, check your iMessage settings to make sure that your device is configured to send from your phone number.
I only have one phone number for my grandson in contacts, but when I typed his name it brought up 4 different phone numbers. None of these numbers are in my contacts. I searched each of them through my contacts. The other one I typed in her name and it selected the contact, but it was an email for an iMessage. I have never had this problem before this update. I did check iMessage settings and it's send and receive from my phone. No reason it should have sent to someone's email.
