Catalina: Updating App Store apps now require admin privilege

My Mac has two accounts set up - a standard user for daily use and a separate admin account.

Since upgrading to Catalina, I am bugged by endless admin prompts saying that "App Store is trying to install new software" (I have auto-update on in Mac App Store). I realise that Catalina now requires admin privilege to perform app updates. May I ask if there is any way I can change this behaviour (so that a standard user can update apps)?

N.B. curiously, admin privilege is not required to install new apps.

I found a post on another forum suggesting this is a known issue that will be fixed in 10.15.2.
