iPhone 11 Pro Camera Lens Cracking

Hi,

Im excited to own the new iPhone 11 Pro but after a few weeks of ownership, one of the 3 camera lenses has shattered out. The phone has never dropped or mishandled, just simply normal use in my pocket. I just wanted to make the Apple community aware that the Camera glass is very weak! Buy a case that covers and will well protect the cameras. Ive attached a picture of my phones broken camera lens.

This happened to me this summer... the top camera lens cracked. I called Apple and they were useless, they told me they can’t replace such a small part and the only solution was to replace the whole handset in exchange of £700 (i don’t have apple care).

Of course I said no because this is ridiculous, I didn’t want a new phone I just wanted a new glass camera lens cap which is tiny and shouldn’t be that hard to replace.

In the meantime I stick tape to my camera to prevent dust and damage to the inner lens. I finally found a repair shop that had this tiny part in stock and was willing to replace it for me. Can you guess how much it cost me?

£50 😂

Not ideal but better than not being to use my camera at all. Also my phone was already out of warranty and because it was bought in the US no insurance company other than apple care wanted to insure my phone to begin with. This is just my bad luck...

Now I have a Spigen tempered glass camera protection, it doesn’t look as nice as when it’s without but at least it protects from this stupid thing happening again.

Yes, glass does break under pressure, and with impact. From what I’ve read, the lens cover is not actually glass, It’s made from a type of crystal that is very scratch resistant. From my own experience and the issues stated in here the material either is not very impact resistant or is too thin. It should be able to take normal daily wear and tear; Being set on a table, kept in your pocket, or in a purse, being dropped from a few inches, or from a few feet i.e. 2 or 3 on a carpeted floor.

Hello! I’ve gone through some of the replies as well and the most useful one I’ve come across - glass breaks under pressure.

I think the point that some people were trying to bring up is - despite using their phones normally as they would with their previous iPhones (well mine did go way back with the very first) and I’ve subjected my older phones to greater pressure and what-not and none of the older phones had lens breaking within a month or two. Not even a year or two.

One of my camera lens cracked in less than two months. I did not drop it.

I'm very angry, you might discover a break in the call center and apply information that could be something factory or not, so you can run a store that was badly handled by Matheus manager of Shopping Morumbi Sao Paulo "Brazil", who accused me of breaking and then he said he had no explanation. I just got another salesperson who made the social and booked Apple via phone, send me the photos and I said I had a video and I was almost promised to trade if I sent the video. Since the video was not compromised with the second run, they simply ignored the switch. But they said to exchange the device just for the rude attendant, but I do not have the first recording. And seriously it's absurd to hear that from Aplle. It is ending with a memory of Steve Jos. I am running late trying to figure out why to use for work and I am extremely careful about every line item. I bought it in November 2019 in the USA. I'm trying friendly, but apparently I'll have to go to Brazilian justice. I will print all these cases and present.

Also, from the photo you posted, it appears your iPhone is NOT in a case. All iPhone 11 Pro cases ensure the camera bump is fully protected if the phone is placed camera side down. This means every time you place the camera down you are putting the lens covers at risk. You likely wouldn't be here had you invested in a simple, affordable case for your iPhone.
