iPhone 11 pro max screen scratched

I’ve only had my iPhone 11 pro max just over 2 weeks and despite the glass supposedly the toughest yet it’s picked up a few scratches on the screen from objects in my pocket!! This has never happened to my previous iPhones and one that I find quite annoying!!! I now have a screen protector on but I find the scratches quite annoying!!! Is this a manufacturing fault or is this something we should expect from a phone that costs in excess of a £1000!!!
