mediaanalysisd burning up CPU since upgrading to Catalina

Everything was fine until Catalina. Now the process mediaanalysisd is eating up CPU making my MacBook Air very laggy. I have to force stop it but I cannot trash it like Apple has suggested in the past. I see this as a chronic problem but Apple seems to have chosen to ignore it.

Anybody have a solution to this?

It should stop when it has analyzed all of your photos for faces and such.
