I bought a Panasonic VX870 camcorder to record directly to my Mac. iMovie and Photo Booth do t recognize my camera. How do I connect my camera to record? Or, what software should I be using to record? Thanks

The Panasonic VX870 is an Apple supported camera. So it should work. The camera must be set to PC Connect mode or VTR mode.

The article that I posted is a bit dated. It deals with iMovie 9, not iMovie 10. The FaceTime internal camera is what is used with iMovie 10. .
However, you might need some additional hardware. Take a look at these You Tube videos:

Thanks for the reply, Rich. I have tried the suggested document and am still unable to connect the camera through iMovie or Photo Booth. OBS doesn’t work either. When my camera is connected to to the Mac, the Mac sees only the SD card.
