Using Unicode in Pages for iPad, is there a better way to do it?

Hello everyone.

As in the title, I’m currently making a document in Pages on an iPad Pro using iPad OS 13.1. I wanted to add checkboxes in a few areas but I really struggled to find a convenient solution. Eventually I navigated to the Unicode website and copied it (I also learned its called a “ballot box”) into my document. This seems a little bit clunky and I was wondering if there’s a smoother way to use Unicode in Pages for iPad?
