I erased and restored my iPhone 6 while an Apple advisor scree-shared with me. Everything seemed fine but today all the contacts were gone. meanwhile it looks like the phone automatically backed up today—meaning that backup probability contains whatever error erased the contacts. How do restore from an earlier working backup?

If you try to restore a backup - it should give you the option of which backup you want to restore - with the date of

iCloud backups keep the 3 most recent. iTunes backups only the most recent, unless you specifically archive a backup (which you can only do with a Mac).
