Can imessage on the mac still work if my phone is dead?

If my phone is dead but i have my imessages linked to my mac, can i still use imessages on my mac while phone is dead?

Yes, iMessage to other Mac users will keep working. It uses your iCloud account for forwarding.


I am not certain that SMS messages can be forwarded to non-Apple users without the phone itself.


As long as your iPhone is turned on and connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network, new SMS/MMS texts can be sent and received on the devices that you added.
