2018 iMac Stand Removal Issues

I can't seem to find the lever to detach the stand from my iMac. it's a 2018 iMac. I tried the card enclosed with the Versa Mount Kit, but I can't seem to find the latch or feel the latch to allow the stand to expose the screws.. I've spend hours trying to figure out how to do it.. watched a number of YouTube videos and they all talk about a latch that you can feel.. I've tried a number of Credit card style cards and still no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The stand on your iMac is not removable, beginning in 2012 iMacs the stands are integrated into the chassis of the computer as 1 piece. If you want a VESA mount, you will need to search for third party solutions.

Did you buy t he VESA mount from Apple?

Yes, I guess it isn't. You'd have got have ordered the Mac with a VESA mount: Buy iMac with Built-in VESA Mount Adapter - Apple

Since you've already got it with a stand take the adaptor back and order one of these: Rock Solid VESA iMac Stand Adapter

man that's ridiculous.. I wish they would explain it more clearly.. I did order a 21" with the mount, but I thought you could retrofit existing Macs as well.. but I guess not any of the newer versions.. Not sure why they even made mounts like they did on these iMacs. bummer
