Switch off for overnight charge

A learned behaviour of mine over the past 2 decades is to charge my phone over night while the device is switched off (I sleep at night and don't want to be disturbed). Now, in iOS13, there is this battery optimizing feature, which learns when I use my phone, charges it over night to 80% and charges the rest just in time so that I have a 100% when I usually start using my phone in the morning. I guess this feature doesn't work when I switch my phone off for charging? Anyway, are there any disadvantages when charging over night while the iPhone is switched off? Any better charging methods that keeps my battery healthier?

Thanks.

Charging overnight while off, or while on won’t make any difference. To all intents and purposes, both are equivalent, since all charging stops once the battery is at capacity - whether the device is in or off. The device regulates its own charging.

For the last 11 years I have always left my devices (iPhones and later iPads too) on 24/7 and plugged in overnight. With the intro of do not disturb, I just have it scheduled for the overnight hours, and I use iCloud backup so those automatically occur every night as well.

Typically even after 3-4 years of ownership and use, my batteries are still fine and quite serviceable for daily use.
