I have 2853 items in iTunes. I have iTunes Match. Only 2715 will sync to my iPod Classic. Looks like the items not moving to the iPod from iTunes are items I have purchased from iTunes Store. All 2853 are available on my iPhone 8. ??????

In iTunes create a smart playlist with the rule Location is not on this computer, then select all that shows up in it (ctrl+A or cmd+A), right-click on the selection, and click Download from the context menu. Sync your device when everything has downloaded.

I thought for sure that would work.................nope. But..........problem solved! All the tracks that would not sync had the cloud with the arrow pointing down symbol. All I had to do was click on the symbol. that downloaded it to the computer. Once I did that, it all moved over to the iPod.

Use the menu item iTunes (Mac) or Edit (Win) > Preferences > General tab > Show: List view checkboxes. Are there any error messages when you sync? You could try Preferences > Advanced > Reset Warnings just to make sure you're not missing anything.

Hard to tell from here. Are you syncing all music or a specific playlist? Do you have any music videos and if so are they included? Could you have any content in the cloud? This would be included on an iOS device, but wouldn't be synced to a classic.

All songs are checked, no errors or warnings. When I connect to sync it tells me I'm syncing 2715 songs (the number existing on the iPod) Why doesn't it tell me I'm syncing 2853 songs, the number in iTunes?
That is the answer. Yes there is content on the cloud. I don't know how to tell how much. I had my iTunes on another computer that had a hard drive crash a few years back. I found out a few days ago iTunes doesn't even exist as it was when the computer crashed. Now I have a new computer. I updated to the new iTunes and populated it with the data that existed on the iPod, downloaded a couple of CD's (acquired from local bands) and cleaned up a bunch of duplicates. I also signed up for iTunes Match. So, yes now some data is on the cloud I haven't synced my iPod since before the computer crashed. I sure didn't know it would be this difficult. So, how do I get the tracks "on the cloud" on to my iPod???
They play ok in iTunes and on my iPhone. "Checked in the songs view"? Where will I see that?

Check that the items play correctly in iTunes. Make sure they are checked in the Songs view. Try syncing once more.
