iMessages previously arrived simultaneously on iPhone and macOS Mojave but even with a clean install of Catalina messages arrive in Messages.app many minutes after iPhone and sometimes not even until actively closing and restarting the Mac app. Anybody else getting this. Both iOS and macOS were clean installs.

I reset my iCloud password, and then re-linked MacBook to iCloud for messages. Then in iPhone check the messages setting that says "Text messaging forwarding" and make sure the MacBook shows up their correctly. I had multiple MacBook entries in there presumably each time the beta updated it created a new one, I had like 7....
After resetting the iCloud password it clears that list out and then re-add the MacBook,.

I've tried every setting I can think of to try and fix this, it's really annoying. I also can't send new messages without quit/reopen. This is a 2012 MBPro. My 2013 MacBook Air, not running Catalina, is fine.

I have the same problem. I was fine during beta.
SAME! It's quite annoying. I see the little dots showing someone is typing but then crickets.....
