storing books on an external drive and not on the hard drive

hello everyone. I just got a new macbookpro and want to store all my ibooks on an external drive.....I have read this is not possible.....I am now storing all of my music/photos this way..on an external drive.....is there some other way to store the books other than on a/the hard drive...Mine, the hard drive, already has a very large mount of needed space devoted to the books.....any insight..?

There has to be a video or something that can explain this......OR.......Can I use my other itunes meaning a/the version before the Books thing happened....on another macbookpro just to store all of the books after i move all the music to Music...?

I have absolutely no books in my collection, plus I use iTunes 7.5 from about 12 years ago. The bit I quoted earlier was all that was said. That said, I wonder if you need to change the file extensions so the audio files are not longer seen as books but as music files. I believe that would entail changing them from .m4b to .m4a. I would experiment on a copy of a single file until you were content with the results.

Send feedback to Apple about this. Yours is not the first complaint I have seen of this kind.

I am referring to audiobooks. Add them to Music like I was doing before the Books change thing happened..? I really, really, can't lose all of these books but the way it's going my hard drive will be full of books....If addding the books to Music is possible then I have to ask...what is Books supposed to be used for, other than taking up a LOT of valuable space on the hard drive...?
