Upgrading from OSX 10.8.5 to 10.13.6

I have an Early Macbook Pro 15 inch from Early 2011 that I need to use as a fallback. The os is 10.8.5 and obviously no longer supported. The browsers cant be upgraded without newer os so i cant use a lot of web applications on it that are critical for me.

on http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201300 it says that the newest compatible os for my specific laptop is 10.13.6. Because I am on such older os, I dont see a path to upgrade. I have never purchased a newer OS either which seems like was a bridge for upgrading. The latest os in the app store under purchased shows as Mountain Lion (10.8).

what can I do to installed the latest support os 10.13 for my laptop?

Note, you are jumping 5 system versions. That sets you up to discover that some of your old software may break. You may wish to check if you're going to have problems. Check if your apps will still work with High Sierra - https://roaringapps.com/apps
