iPad mini with ios 9.3.5 isn't recognized on new Apple music app for syncing

I have an older iPad mini that will only update as far as ios 9.3.5. I need to sync it with Apple Music...which of course used to be iTunes. Music will not even recognize that it is plugged in. I only use this iPad for music storage. What do I do to make this work now?

Music on iPhone not syncing with iTunes When I plug my iPhone into my MacBook, iTunes used to be able to detect it and I will click on the phone icon to add/remove music and sync. Now, nothing happens. iTunes does not display the icon, nothing is syncing. The USB port detects my iPhone is plugged in but there is no communication between the Music app on my iPhone and iTunes. This happened ever since the previous iOS 13.3 update. The OS on my Mac and phone are both up to date. Anyone know what's wrong and any solutions?

I can't get my iTunes music to my iPhone 12 older macbook and High sierra. Itunes won't recognize my new Iphone 12. Tech support was of no use. Can't find the phone in finder or itunes. How can I listen to my music from Icloud? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Device management has moved to the Finder in macOS 10.15 Catalina. Select your iPad from Finder’s Sidebar.
