iOS 13 email drop down email contact list

I’ve noticed that in the new iOS 13, when you search for a contact in the To box, if there is a contact with two email address, instead of showing both, it now shows one email address and there is an arrow on the left to select the other email. So my boss keeps emailing my coworker’s personal email instead of her work email because that one always pops up. He didn’t even see the arrow. I made two contacts for her so he doesn’t have to worry about switching. Is there even a way to default a contacts email? It seems to sort by alphabetical order by the spelling of the email. This is not a convenient feature. Both emails should come up so I don’t have to take the extra step of clicking the arrow every single time or at least I should have to option of defaulting an address. I would prefer both because we all have hundreds of contacts.
