Siri dictation throws in extra words that I am not saying

When I dictate a text or other things, catcher Siri randomly throws in some form of the word catch whenever she wants to. It just happened above after the words other things achieve. I never said the word catcher. Catch the same thing is true of the word achieve a Chuchu in a sentence before last catchy. Catching. There it goes again so I will type the rest of this. You have to ignore “a Chuchu” to make sense of what Siri is typing in place of what I am dictating. Ever see anything like this before?

Wow BadBernie! Thank you on behalf of everyone for doing all that!

I was having the catchy word problem every day with virtually every text on my iPhone 11 pro max until I updated to iOS 13.2.3 two days ago and so far (knock on wood) it has not happened once since then.

Judging from your unusual user name, you could be one of my grandchildren who loves horses, because I always call them "pal".

Back on subject, come join les240 and me in this new "Catchers Club" looking for some way to pin Apple down to the bug they have to fix for us.

You say it happens every time for you.

In my case, wi-fi connections haven't failed me yet. Are you connected by wi-fi when it is happening?

reporting back - part 2

Following this will be a post containing a copy or their response.

Updating to the latest IOS (13.2.3 released 11/18/2019) is the first step and an absolute pre-requisite. my iPhone is a 5s and is not in the list of devices compatible with iOS13. Crystal went through the rest of the steps with me just for my own education. When we tested the issue as the steps propose to do, it did not happen. That made me very happy until I tried again in an hour or so and it was happening again. After that I resumed my testing and found that the more I checked on it, the more it was happening. BUMMER! Then I tried to find a phone I could update to 13.2.2 and try it.

OOPS when I tried posting this the system came back with:

You’ve exceeded the posting limits. Please try again in a few minutes

I will keep trying.

more parts to come . . . . . .

Since my last software update two nights ago, the problem seems to be fixed on my Iphone 11. There are three other threads discussing this same problem and a case number was assigned. Sorry, I don't have those links. You have to google other variations of the problem. The fellow who started this thread accidentally marked this as problem solved. He tried to fix it, but Apple doesn't have a way to undo 'solved'. So he started another thread. Some people have gone to actual Apple stores, all to no avail.

Did you post the same thing 5 times or was that another software error?

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS "FIX" THAT DOESN'T FIX!

I did it and lost all my preset words, even emoticons.

The problem was back with the hour.

THERE IS NOTHING AN INDIVIDUAL CAN DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM!

IT IS A PROGRAM PROBLEM AND ONLY APPLE CAN FIX IT!!!

DO NOT LET THEM CONVINCE YOU TO MESS WITH ANY OF YOUR SETTINGS!

The call center reps are supposed to "fix" anything you call with in order to keep their job.

It's sort of like going to a doctor and they really don't know what's wrong with you -

so they diagnose you with something (rather than nothing,

because they're trying to keep their job with the insurance companies,

who are really their bosses) and write you a prescription.

The reason it's important to CALL is to let Apple know how widespread this problem is!

It's not for them to fix it from the call ...

It was I who posted about Googling Catcher, catch, fatou, chuchu, chachi correlation. One thing I must say is that I didn't even visit the password cracking website and password database pages that appeared in my search queue after Googling the above words. I was paranoid that clicking on those pages might introduce malware, etc. into my computer. I am no IT expert and feel Apple should explore this further, since they ARE proclaimed as leading IT experts, who have a much better understanding of how these things work than do I. Although this is a user problem, I feel Apple should own up to it being an Apple problem, BECAUSE IT IS.

And BTW, something is rotten in Denmark. Why are Apple Care reps giving us quick fixes that don't work while many reps also claim at first minutes of call that they are unaware of the problem? Could it be that IT folk at Apple's core KNOW there is a problem, haven't been able to figure what's causing it, are therefore saving face by not admitting the problem, and passing on to reps quick fixes that don't work? OR, perhaps Apple core truely is unaware this is a problem needing to be addressed. Either way, we must deluge Apple Care support with calls. Also, let us get media coverage by sending PSA's to our local and national media outlets.

In November, I began experiencing the Catch, catching, cather message dictation problem. I've been working with one of the senior reps at Apple tech support for weeks. We've tried everything without success. Last week, he installed a program on my phone to gather keystrokes I think, and I've captured images of the problem texts with their time stamps. All were submitted to Apple engineers to determine and resolve the problem. He stated that they will get back to me, but that I should make sure to install all iOS updates because the fix may be in one of them. Let's see what happens.

What bothers me is that the tech support reps all claim to have no knowledge of the issue and do not seem to be interested in the fact that hundreds of us are having this problem.

Please have your friend also call Apple Care. I've called three times and plan to call again tomorrow, again using the case number y'all listed above in this thread. Your friend in his/her call might mention too what I mentioned above in thread about password-hacking webpages appearing when I googled this: Catcher, catch, catchy, fatou, chachi, chuchu correlation.
