Mac Mini 2014 Monitor 4k

Apple Mac Mini 7.1 A1347 i5 1.4Ghz 4260U 8GB 10.11.2

I have just bought this late 2014 Mac mini. Hopefully it is a short term replacement - my early 2009 iMac running OS Spinning Ball has become almost unusable. I use it mainly for basic stuff i.e. photos, music, You Tube (not gaming) but would like to get a decent, sturdy 27" monitor (larger will not fit under my table's shelf). Thin bezels are not a requirement, but I would like USB ports, built in speakers (though I do have external) and can plug-in my Bose Quiet Comforts.

I would like to buy 4k, even though I appreciate that it may be overkill and will only display at 30hz but am considering BenQ PD2700U, Asus MX27AQ or maybe an AOC. One store recommends Dell or LGUK600 or 650.

I realise that the most sensible solution of probably to save for another iMac - but grubby child fingers are also high in the mix. Guidance appreciated. Thanks.

You don't necessarily have to buy a monitor. You could get a regular flat screen TV that is 4K capable. I have a cheap 50" UHD display from Amazon that with an active mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter I can achieve 4K resolution. The only caveat is that the text and icons are too small and have to be adjusted to a larger size. You can get a USB hub to hook all your peripherals in
