Cannot increase transition duration

When I create a transition, I can't increase it's duration, I don't see why it has to be so hard. I've understood it will decrease the length of the two clips, but that's fine, I just want a longer transition!

Any help?

As I said, zoom in and pull the tabs in the upper corners to shorten the adjacent clips allowing you to lengthen the handles to make a longer transition. You can trim one or both sides depending on your shots and what works best of the content. .

That's the thing, I literally cannot drag the edges of the transition outwards, neither can I change it by using the control-D function. When I try to shorten them by dragging the edges, it's as if I've reached a max, I simply can't make it any longer. I can, however, make it shorter by dragging the edges inwards.

I know it sounds weird, as if it's not allowed to trim the two clips...
