Sidecar timeout Cataline 10.15 and iPadOS 13.1.3

Sidecar keeps on timing out (immediately). The Ipad name is visible on the Mac via the Airplay and the sidecar app within System Preferences. The Ipad name is also visible via Airplay on the Display System preferences. Clicking any of these options just gives me a timeout after about 2-3 seconds.

Logging: "/var/log/system.log" gives me the following error every time when I try and connect:

Oct 28 12:49:45 [PCname ommitted] xpcproxy[1159]: libcoreservices: _dirhelper_userdir: 557: bootstrap_look_up returned (ipc/send) invalid destination port

I followed this instruction to the tee https://support.apple.com/HT210380

  1. Wifi is on the same network on the iPad and the Mac
  2. Bluetooth is on, both on Mac and iPad
  3. Ipad latest version 13.1.3
  4. Mac latest version Catalina 10.15
  5. Mac Hardware = MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018)
  6. Ipad hardware = Ipad Mini 5 (2019)
  7. Tried USBC->Lightning cable on all USB-C ports. Tried USB-Lightning cable via attached port replicator
  8. Rebooted both devices several times.
  9. Renamed iPad. New Name is picked up by Mac but still no success.
  10. Distance between devices is less than a meter
  11. No firewall or Antivirus is running (de-installed and disabled firewall for now)
  12. Disabling Bluetooth either on Mac and or iPad, regardless of using a direct cable, wifi or not, disables Sidecar (greyed out the Ipad name I'm using on the Mac)

Please can you help.

I did several situation and tested what can help.

Mac: nothing to set

iPad: with SIM model, MUST insert active SIM card, turn on Personal Hotspot and let Mac to connect to your iPad once, this can help to let Mac recognise the iPad, then disconnect it. Wifi only model not test yet

Subsequent to above, I've installed the latest iPadOS 13.2 and 10.15.2 on Mac. Clicking the connect in Sidecar keeps the connection for about 5 seconds and then times out. I noticed in the /var/log/system.log the following:

Class SidecarMapTable is implemented in both /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/SidecarCore.framework/Versions/A/SidecarCore and /usr/libexec/SidecarRelay. One of the two will be used. Which one is undefined.

Trying to reconnect post the initial attempt, it then immediately times out on the Mac when trying to connect the iPad as it did before.

I've scanned historic logs prior upgrading, and the above Class error did appear,

I've noticed now, that rebooting both iPad and the Mac I get the class error but then subsequent connect attempts quickly times out with the "libcoreservices: _dirhelper_userdir: 557: bootstrap_look_up returned (ipc/send) invalid destination port" error, which means that some service initiates and because of the Class error stops working altogether while it runs in the background.

I'm going to attempt to remove one of these files (backing it up) and see if removing either one improves the issue. (Or break my Mac totally :-()
