Duplicate emails in sent folder using Mail app

When I send emails from the Mail app with my Live and Hotmail accounts two sent emails are stored in the sent folder. The solutions I find are years old and mention to stop storing messages on the server, which is sort of the opposite of what I want. How can I have it stop storing a local copy?

All my sent messages copy into my inbox I'm using OS High Sierra, and Apple Mail 11.5. Suddenly, without me having made any changes, every message I send copies into my inbox--in addition to the Sent folder. My email service is gmail, and I've not made any changes there, either, to send myself a copy. It's driving me crazy and I can't figure out how to stop it. Help!

Double Email In sent folder Ever since I signed into my Hotmail account on the mail app on my M2 Air, whenever I send an Email it will appear twice in the sent folder. Even if I now send emails from my windows pc through outlook it continues to have duplicate sent mail. I have sent test emails to myself luckily I receive only one, but it is quite annoying to have double in the sent folder Looking at other threads this seems to be an issue people have had over the years but I have not found a solution that works with this current OS

try uninstalling and reinstall mail service or download gmail or other mail service providers app or use Safari to browse for your mail

get to system preferences, internet account, iCloud, mail and unblock the box to stop it from storing it from iCloud.

Are you sure iCloud has anything to do with it? It's specific to my Live and Hotmail accounts. Just gave it a test and same issue.

Yeah I have other non-Microsoft email accounts that work fine. Would just be nice if this wasn't an issue.
