You will have to go back to your

Do you have the Guest User enabled in System Preferences > Users & Groups?

How, if it doesn't appear on the login screen?
From the drop down menu .
Log out of your user/admin. If the Guest user is engaged, it should present you w/ the login option.
and log into the Guest user. See if this does anything for you, in returning the guest user on the dead stop, reboot log-in screen.
Other things to consider—Find My Mac, Filevault encryption enabled or not.

You need to make some change here—Login only is not quite enough to see on your boot screen:
Compare your screen shot with the example above: enabled, managed.

Switch users. Try logging into the guest user account

I thought this was going to solve my problem, but sadly it doesn't. When I go there and click on Guest User -> Login Options -> Automatic Login the dropdown list only gives me the options of myself (admin) and Off!

Log into the guest user, and see if this triggers a change in what you are seeing.
Reboot if necessary to see changes.
You're saying that "login only" isn't enough to allow a guest user to log in? In what world does that make sense?
And how exactly do I change the Guest User to "Enabled, Managed?" When I go to Login Options, Guest User doesn't show up in the Automatic login dropdown.
I guess most of us here are just dumb.
That dropdown menu gives me two apparent choices - Lock Screen and Log Out. Regardless of which one I choose, I do not see the Guest User.
I've never enabled Filevault, so that howtogeek article from 2 1/2 years ago isn't helpful at all.
Under the previous OS, all we had to do was enable login for the guest user, and it showed up on the login screen. Under the new and improved OS, there are apparently a few additional steps to take, which a number of people don't know about.
Perhaps someone here could provide us with a step-by-step procedure for truly enabling Guest User? Thanks in advance.
How is this for bizarre.
Like you the guest user was not present on the main screen. Even though the option to login was checked the status was sharing only,
When I UNchecked the option in the Guest setup it changed to Login and shared. The login appeared on the main screen, and I was able to login as guest!
On going back into Users and groups the check box truly represented the guest user status.
It's absolutely true.
Yes. It has always been on the login screen until the latest update to OS Catalina
Looks like another unforced error on the part of the stable geniuses at Apple. I've got Guest User enabled, and it doesn't show up on my login screen either.
Works fine here…
FWIW, Mine is "Login only" and it shows up. I don't even know how to change it to "Enabled, Managed".
How do you change Login Only to Enabled, Managed?
