Cracked apple pencil

So I have been using my iPad pro and 2nd generation apple pencil for about 8 months now and I was wondering if anyone else had an issue with the tip of their apple pencil having little hairline cracks in it. Also my apple pencil seems to lag constantly and sometimes doesn't pair and it takes a moment to start actually working again. It is also good to note that I did buy my apple pencil from best buy and It was actually a return to the store and it was marked down about $10.00 because it had been previously opened. There didn't seem to be any type of problem with the pencil itself at first, but over time I noticed several cracks on the outside of the pencil and like I said before the lagging. I am wondering if I could get a replacement for my pencil seeing that this is not my fault but a manufacturing error or something, or if me buying it opened from best buy would affect the warranty at all?
