usb keyboard stopped working

I own a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) Running MacOS 10.14.6


The USB port stopped working for my mac keyboard, can I reset these ports somehow?

when Hardware disappears, try an SMC reset:


How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support


NB> the ports on the keyboard can not support any additional USB devices, not even a thumb drive. Only an Apple low power mouse can be plugged into one or the other "convenience" ports on the keyboard.
