IPod eyes gray looking jail bars all decide

I was watching YouTube and all of the sudden IPod gray vertical bars. I cannot shut it down or restart it. Does anyone know what to do?

Thank you. It seems to have self resolved. They slowly went away. We charged it overnight and in the morning they were all gone. Go figure. If it happens again we will contact the Apple support.
