I purchased a magic bluetooth keyboard with numeric pad for a mac pro and the numbers entry works fine to sign in but won't work inside any programs. Like Numbers. Is there a setting or something I am missing?

IS there a setting or something I am missing. The numeric keyboard is both bluetooth or wired and it connects to type on for Test or symbol's and function keys work on this Magic Extended Keyboard with Numeric Key Pad and the numeric keyboard works to sign me into my Mac Pro, but won't work when I enter numbers from the keypad in programs. Does anyone know a solution for this?
