USB Keyboard not working after sleep

No solution to offer here, only another voice of complaint. I have a USB-C dongle with a monitor and a keyboard attached to it and, more often than not, the monitor is not recognized and neither is the keyboard. Restarting solves the problem every time.

Since I posted my laptop has stopped showing this problem. Was it cleared by the latest system update? I wish an Apple official would chime in, so that I can close that loop mentally... WIll post again, if the issue arises again.

I still have this problem also. The update to 10.15.3 did not work at all.

Wireless Apple Keyboard and Apple Wireless Trackpad does not connect after sleep, I need to plug USB keyboard and mouse to log in and click on "connect" (upper bar Bluetooth icon) for each in order to connect them. As you may guess this is very annoying.

I tried this and it did work one time, but after the second sleep-wake cycle I'm back to the original problem.

Mouse and keyboard both stop working after sleep on my iMac 27” 2019, very annoying to pay 3 grand for a computer that does this. Especially if your rendering something over night, and come back to a computer that you have to restart, thank you Apple!

Having this exact same problem with a brand new 2020 MacBook Air. In fact, between the debacle of getting both a DisplayPort monitor and my USB mechanical keyboard to work (the keyboard still loves to simply disconnect), I’d say this is the worst “new computer” experience I’ve had in years. All of this has been absolutely flawless on a Windows machine.

I’m honestly shocked at the low quality of this experience. This might be enough to make me return this machine.

I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018) with a Mac USB keyboard via a usb c hub. I just ran the OS updates and have 10.14.6. Now the keyboard is not working. Was before, and before you ask it's not the USBC hub. I just tested it and its working fine with my PC. Trying to run a business here APPLE!

I'm having the same issue with my Macbook Pro 13" 2017 (MacBookPro14,2). Catalina10.15.6

My keyboard is connected to the usb hub built into my monitor. Laptop remains closed next to it. My Logitech G Wireless mouse works fine and wakes up the device from sleep but the keyboard remains unresponsive until I unplug and reconnect it.

I can't believe this is still an issue since Oct last year. But it is relieving to hear that I'm not the only one. If there's so many of us there must be many more who haven't found this thread.

I'm having the same issue with USB Happy Hacking Keyboard. Never had an issue before Catalina. Keyboard not recognized after sleep, requires OS restart. MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015)

Same issue with an Apple USB keyboard and USB mouse.

No issues at all before upgrading to Catalina.
