Setting Full Disk Access permissions for apps on a removable drive…

Hey all! Hoping someone can help me out with this…

I have a number of apps installed on a removable hard drive, primarily Steam games that are too large to fit on my MacBook's SSD. One app in particular, Elder Scrolls Online, no longer launches through the Steam client, and the only solution I've found is to modify its privacy settings and grant it Full Disk Access. I imagine this has something to do with Steam (which is installed on my internal drive and already has Full Disk Access) being able to communicate with the ESO app on the removable drive, and vice versa.

My main problem is this: every time I eject the removable drive, any apps installed on it disappear from the Security & Privacy list, and I have to manually re-add them to Full Disk Access every time I reconnect it. Does anyone know of a way to set these permissions so Catalina doesn't forget them?

hmmm.

Good question. From your external drive, do you have the options to ignore permissions/ownership on the drive itself?

Command i opens the information pane.

I just checked and it appears this was already enabled on the drive — only difference between my settings and the screenshot was "everyone" only having Read Only access. Changing that to Read & Write didn't solve the problem, unfortunately.

I should clarify as well that I did some further testing, and none of the apps installed on the removable drive are able to launch through Steam since the Catalina update unless I change the security settings as mentioned in my original post.
