30 days left to download your iCloud Photos

I had a lot of photos and received a message that my icloud was almost full. I turned off photo backup to icloud, and now it wants to delete them from my phone. I received an email from Apple that says I can download the photos before they are deleted in 30 days.

iCloud Photos has been disabled on all your devices and new photos and videos are no longer uploading to iCloud. There are currently 325 photos and 13 videos in your iCloud PhotosOriginal format, full resolution versions of your photos and videos are not stored on your devices. You must download your full resolution photos and videos to at least one device before they are deleted from iCloud Photos in 30 days.To download your photos and videos to an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with iOS 8 or later:

1.Connect to a power source and Wi-Fi.

2.Go to settings, tap on your account, tap iCloud, and then select Photos.

3.Tap Download and Keep Originals. I do not get this option when I follow the steps

I only get icloud photos (toggle on or off)

My Photo Stream (toggle on or off)

Shared Albums (toggle on or off)

What needs to be done to follow the steps Apple sent me. This is on an iphone XS Max running 13.1.3

Hi ronfromwatertown,

Thanks for posting your question about downloading photos from iCloud. I'll be happy to see if I can help out.

You mentioned you have a toggle for iCloud Photos; is it on, or off? This resource, Get help with iCloud Photos, may help:

"How do I remove all iCloud Photos content from iCloud and my devices?

To turn off your iCloud Photos everywhere, follow these steps:

  • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > Photos, then tap Disable and Delete.
  • On your Mac, go to Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud. In the lower-right corner, click Manage, select iCloud Photos, then select Disable and delete.

Photos and videos are stored in your account for 30 days. To download your photos and videos on your iOS device, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos and select Download and Keep Originals. On your Mac, open Photos, choose Photos > Preferences, then select Download Originals to this Mac. You can also select the photos and videos that you want to download from iCloud.com."

If you have access to a web browser on a computer, you could also Use iCloud.com to download photos as an alternative.

I hope this helps get you started. Take care.
