Wireless keyboard conundrum - clues requested!

Hi

My wireless keyboard works with my old iMac (A) but not - now - on my new(ish) one with Catalina (B)

My wired keyboard works properly on BOTH computers.

I've already used Apple Recovery to check (B) with Disk Utility and I've Reinstalled Catalina. I've also disconnected from my power supply and reset the NVRAM.

Help! 😳 ........ please!

Further information!

I've just added a new user called 'TEST" ................ and I CAN now use my wireless keyboard - it's working properly! 😆

The question remains then - WHY did this happen? Hmmm. 🤨

Update

A long discussion with Apple support did not resolve the problem. It was suggested that I started my iMac in Safe Boot mode, which I did but, sadly, that did not correct the erroneous keyboard situation either.

Using Time Machine, I used a back-up to restore to how things were two days ago - and all is well once again. 😎
