Fidelity's lack of adequate support for Active Trader Pro on macOS

There was an older post regarding this at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250072374, which concluded the issue was that ATP is 32 bit. If you have upgraded to Catalina, it forces the install of 64bit apps only (according to what I was told by Fidelity). Because of this, they now offer a 64bit Mac version at the following URL: https://www.fidelity.com/webcontent/CodeweaverInstaller/ActiveTraderPro64.pkg.

WARNING: I obtained this link from the IT support team prior to it being officially published on Fidelity's website. This installation currently takes a long time as they have not flushed out all of issues with distribution. It also downloads the Microsoft .NET framework to allow ATP to run on the Mac. After the installation is complete, this version of the download still warns that it is 32bit and cannot run, just click OK as this warning dialog has not yet been removed from the application.

Good luck!

Thanks for the link, above. I tried it after many, many repeated failures of using the download from the regular ATP page. After about 30-45 minutes it actually installed! I had thought maybe this link went to a beta version and that I might be able to get that to work, but after installation, I checked for upgrades and it said this was the latest version.

It's interesting, because the file name on the above link says 'activetraderpro64.pkg' whereas the one from the regular download page is simply 'activetraderpro/pkg'.

Whatever, it worked & thanks again for posting the link!

I'm on Mojave and ATP 1.0.36 (as downloaded from fidelity--not from link above) installs fine, but is essentially useless. Adjusting window size results in misdrawn lagging windows, eating up 50% CPU, fans kicking in on mba, etc. I can't quit (must force quit) ATP either. Usually you can see which applications are 32-bit from checking apple menu -> system report -> Legacy software (in leftmost pane), and strangely ATP is NOT listed, so perhaps they pushed the 64-bit version out to the live site? Called fidelity and they were not aware of any issues...they suggested a profile reset by going here (www.fidelity.com/atp12.0reset), which needless to say didn't help. Anyone have a link to a previous ATP macOS build?

UPDATE: I have now installed the above application and it is entirely unusable due to poor performance. The screens don't redraw when resized or moved. Data doesn't display immediately, sometimes not at all requiring a restart. This is one of the most useless software I've ever seen (and I design software for investment firms). Going to a different trading platform.

UPDATE: After a few calls into Fidelity, they have been entirely unhelpful almost arrogant in their response. They seem to think that the application being entirely unresponsive (no window screen redraw, no quitting) is because I don't have a 3.0Ghz processor. According to them I could have a dual quad-core chip < 3.0Ghz and be SOL. Ha! Be forewarned that if you're on MacOS in all likelihood won't be able run ATP. ATP runs much better (still not great) under parallels than natively. Not sure Fidelity is the right choice for MacOS users wanting ATP.

Mine's been this way for a couple hours:

Thanks for saving me the time. I killed the installer.
