Can UV sanitisation damage the camera?

Hi

I bought the Phonesoap, which is a phone sanitiser. Basically, it’s a big case where you can place a phone inside and close the lid. When you to turn it on, it emits UV light, which kills 99.99% of germs.

I think it’s a great idea for a germaphobe like myself. But I just thought about the cameras on the phone. As far as I am aware, phone cameras have sensors that’s aren’t blocked as there’s no actual shutters and I’m not sure whether it’s active or exposed when not in use.

Can the Phonesoap actually do more harm than good? UV and camera sensors aren’t a good combo.

What are your opinions on this?
