Unable to verify account name or password

I've been trying to sync my Calendar on my MacBook Pro and kept getting the error message 'unable to verify account name or password'. After looking at responses on the internet, I deleted the account. Now when I try to add it back I get the same message.

I see that the you're having problems with the email account you're using for the Calendar on your MacBook Pro. It keeps saying that it can't verify the account name or password. Good job on deleting the account, and I'm glad to help.


Use your internet accounts on Mac -- Make sure you deleted the account from your Internet Accounts. If the account is the Apple ID you're using for iCloud, please don't delete it.


Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac -- If the issue remains, restart your Mac in safe mode and see if you can re-add the account. If it works while in safe mode, reboot normally and the Internet Accounts in your own user account. If not, continue to "How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac" below. 


How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac -- If the issue is also happening in safe mode, use this article to create and test a new administrative user account. This will demonstrate if the issue is isolated to your account, or if it's system wide. See if you're able to sign into your email account successfully.
