iPhone 7 sound is dead once connect to someone via phone call

My iPhone 7 cannot transmit sound when a phone call connects on my phone.

I can text, use WiFi, use LTE, listen to music, etc. Everything else works just fine.

  1. When someone calls me, the phone rings, I hear it, I answer it and just no sound. The other person doesn't hear anything either.
  2. When I make a call, it insists on using Speaker phone (the icon is grayed out). I can hear it ringing over the line through the phone, but as soon as the other person answers it, then the sound is gone. They can't hear me either.

I've reset network settings, turned it on/off, updated iOS to v 13.2, turning Bluetooth off, and I can't seem to get it to work.

It DOES work when I plug it into my car and call via CarPlay or when I connect via a Bluetooth headset. So I make/receive all my phone calls on my headset.

Does anyone have any ideas why I cannot connect or hear sound when a phone call connects on my actual phone? Is my GSM antennae broken/need to be replaced?

Hello, kariadi.

Thanks for getting back to Apple Support Communities with more details. Are you force closing apps as shown in this article? How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If so, then make sure to have a current backup of your iPhone: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Then follow the steps to restore your iPhone back to factory settings: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Don't restore from a backup or install any apps. Set up your iPhone as a new device and then see if the issue still persists. These steps can help determine if there's a hardware issue with your iPhone.

Best Regards.

Hello, kariadi.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

I understand that your iPhone 7 doesn't have any sound once you answer a call. I'd like to help you on this. Try follow the steps in this article to see if your microphone is having issues: If the microphones on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch aren't working

At the bottom of the Get Help section, "If you've tried these steps and people still can't hear you on phone or FaceTime calls or Siri doesn’t hear your requests, contact Apple Support".

Cheers!

When I go to Voice Control, it is off. I turn it on and I get the error "The microphone is already being used by another application. Voice Control will quit". There are no other applications opened. I have verified that and then restarted the phone (leaving it off for a few minutes before turning it back on). Still the same issue. This happened after the iOS 13.2 update. I don't know why it thinks something is using my microphone. I try to use anything that will use the microphone, and it quits after about a second of trying, so that includes phone calls.
