Internet Recovery VS Standard Recovery

I have a mid 2011 IMAC once you push and hold "COMMAND + R " it goes into Internet Recovery. I want to know is there away to enter into standard "Recovery"? Can you choose which one? The Internet Recovery is taking hours to upload and I've had to restart the computer several times. Where as my MACBOOK PRO goes right into standard "Recovery" with no issues or much of a wait time. The status bar in the Internet Recovery, on my IMAC has only moved by about 1/2 after MANY HOURS. But it is moving.

If using Command + R boots to Internet Recovery Mode, then it means the local recovery partition on your laptop's drive is missing or damaged so the laptop goes on to boot to the online mode.

Connect the computer directly to the router using an Ethernet cable for a faster and more reliable connection to bypass any possible WiFi issues.

It is also possible your hard drive is failing. You can check the health of the hard drive by creating a bootable Knoppix Linux USB drive using Etcher (Mac/Windows/Linux). Option Boot the Knoppix USB drive and select the orange icon labeled "EFI". Once at the Knoppix desktop, click on the "Start" menu in the lower left of the Taskbar and navigate to "System Tools --> GSmartControl". If the status/condition of the drive in GSmartControl shows as failing then this is your problem, otherwise double click on the drive icon in GSmartControl and there should be an option to view and save the report which you can post here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.
